“ This is a MUST try restaurant! Every time I head down to San Antonio, I make time to go eat lunch at Candy's Old Fashion. I usually order their Chicken Fried Chicken; and it is perfectly cooked. The chicken is juicy on the inside while super crispy on the outside. The gravy is perfectly seasoned and has great texture. Their fries are crispy and golden. Everything I have tried so far has been tasty and fresh. Their portion sizes are great for the price. The service is almost non-existent but I wouldn't say it is a bad thing since it is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. They take your order at the counter right as you walk in and you seat yourself. They do bring your food in less than 20 minutes and ask if there is anything that is needed. Do not expect this place to be fine dining as it is quite old and rustic. ”

“ Tried this place for lunch today. It's not much to look at and it's a little awkward when you walk in. Just walk up to the counter and order, then you find a table. I went about 1230 and the burger came out really fast and it' was very fresh and delicious. Not much to look at but the food is delicious. ”

“ Let me tell you. This little hidden gem is an authentic burger and seafood joint! We were recommended to try it out during our work visit to the area. My coworkers opted for the yummy burgers but today I felt like I had to give the catfish sandwich a try. It did not disappoint! The catfish was well breaded and fried with two big pieces of fish and thick cut slices of fresh tomato's and lettuce. I dipped my sandwich into the yummy gravy and wow..sooo good!! You know everything is good when everyone in the table shuts the hell up the onion rings were sooo crispy, big and very well seasoned. I really didn't want to make this review because I know a lot more people are gonna flood this small spot - but I gotta share the go to's in this area. “ The perfect classic burger spot when downtown. Very laid back and unassuming atmosphere. Feels like you stepped back into the 70's...which I loved! Great menu with tons of choices. Every kind of burger you can imagine along with fried chicken sandwiches, clubs, and much more. Prices were a little higher than I expected but that comes with the downtown locale. The service was fast and friendly. We were greeted as soon as we entered and they even came around to offer drink refills, which I appreciated. My Mushroom Swiss Burger was big, juicy and cooked just right. The bun was soft and stacked to the brim with the toppings. The mustard was a little heavy so it overpowered the other flavors a little, but still a great taste. I also enjoyed the Fries. Super crispy but still soft inside, yum! I'll be back for more very soon! ”

“ Service was quick! Cashier was helpful. Told me I got a drink included with my lunch special, which I didn't realize. Score! The atmosphere is super casual. Small, hole in the wall type of place. Nothing fancy but dang!! The burger is delicious and the tots are crispy! The prices are just right for downtown and the amount of food you get. Good place! They gave us about a two and a half hour lunch before returning to jury duty so I pulled out the old yelp and looked for spots. Good burgers 250 feet away reviews say? I'm in. Super friendly staff. Attentive. Was willing to let me wait the whole two hours here until I had to go back. Awesome. On to the burger. Delicious. Simply delicious. Juicy. Great taste. Nice size. Would eat again and again. Fries cooked perfectly. I'll come back even without jury duty. So good. Wow. And they have an extensive menu. After the burger I want to try it all. This spot is so worth your time and money. They have to be some of the friendliest people I have met. I literally heard one staff member say to another "I apologize" when he accidentally bumped into him. Give this place your money!!! Lol ”
